CITY CENTER II REVIEW

City centre II (image from google)

It all started when my friend wanted to watch 7D movies...
We had finished our university exams and as a form of catharsis we decided visit City Centre II in New Town, Rajarhat,Kolkata. The mall located in the new part of the city was indeed far for someone who lives in the heart of Kolkata. It was like going to some outskirt but posh locality to watch some 7D movie. It took around 1hour to reach the mall (in Kolkata heat, believe me, it is some feat) from Bhawanipore. My friend and I were soaked in our sweat by the time we reach the mall.
We entered the mall(the security personnels were strict!) and to our dismay the 7D movie hall was under technical renovation, so there was no show that day.  After taking all the pains to reach the mall we were so so disappointed! But since we'd come that far we decided to tour the mall...
First, we went inside Just Casuals. I got a summer dress from Topshop and my friend too got a dress from Atmosphere. We were quite happy with our purchases despite the dejection.
Secondly, we went inside Afraa, tempted by the cheese cakes and apple pies displayed on the counter. I ordered Ice tea and apple pie while my friend asked for macrons and coke. The ice tea was like any regular Nestea but they charged it more expensively. The apple pie was average or rather much too sweet for me. My friend didn't like her macrons too.

More dejected, we began exploring the mall... Most of the shops were vacant and if I were to shop I would go to South City mall or Forum mall anytime of the day, meaning City Center does not offer variety of brandss. It has Pantaloons, Max, and other sports brands like Nike,Puma and so on. Got a hairband from Max ( comparatively the collections in this Max was much better than the one in Elgin Road,Kolkata). And also got myself a nude tshirt from 1$ Shop( I was lucky, they did not have much clothes, mostly there were food stuffs and other variety of things like hair clips, photo frames, synthetic flowers and so on)
Me and my friend are big Chinese food fans, so we searched for Chinese restaurants inside the mall, we were particularly looking for pork items. Should i say more??? We did not get it.
We ended up going to the food court and ate Thai sizzlers and Garlic chicken chowmein form Sizzling Sizzlers. The best part of the whole eterprise was this! The food was awesome!

I wish we had foods like these in Forum mall( 3years eating Forum food and I never liked it:ate under compulsion)
Since we had to travel for 1 hour to reach home, we left early. Shame the mall had to be so far from my place while Forum and Siuthcity are closeby. maybe after some years it may be better but right now,I won't spend another penny to go to that mall.If I want to eat good food I'll go to Park Street where all the finest foods are available there and again some few minutes away from my location.

City Center is inconviniently far and does not even have that many clothing brands. And I must admit that it is eerily desolate in contrast to other malls. If couples want privacy from the all-seeing-eyes of their relatives and families, I'd say they found the place. They will not be starved to death and they will have all the privacy they need. :)

ON THE WAYS OF LOATHING

---A parody of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's "On The Ways of Love"

How do I loathe thee? Let me count the bricks!
I loathe thee to the up and down and deep
My feet can kick, when fine you make me sick
For the migraine feels much better when I sleep.
I loathe thee to the level of dirty streets
Where I will not walk,by sun and tubelight!
I loathe thee freely,like posters I read.
I loathe thee sourly, like fruitless lost plight.
I loathe thee with a passion when I fought
My brothers for the video games dad bought.
I loathe thee with hate I seem to bear
For your antithesis. Nothing is dear
Where I come first and everything next.
I shall loathe thee more when i know facts!

A genuine manifestation of loathing that I bear for her poetry; not that I hate her poetry but the theme just provokes me to dislike it due to its excessive unpleasant mawkishness and embarassing sentiments of her feverish romantic notions. She must have truly loved Robert Browning but to a modern reader like me one can't help but read the poem with a certain amount of weariness. "The Ways of Love" has thus been subverted in a moment of annoyance because my university, Calcutta University, had the audacity to include such poem in the syllabus. I'm more of a 'Prufrock' fan. :)

DARK ENCHANTMENT

I am not a big fan of chocolate but my friends think otherwise. So, here is a poetry on chocolate to remind once again the love that it coaxes out of our coy hearts. It never fails to give us happiness in times of sadness(or singleness of some friends concerned) and also double happiness in times of mirth too. A preferred gift even at times of success or achievement in our little world. Honestly, sometimes even I fall prey to its "dark enchantment", for it does give an ephemeral sense of joy however shortlived it may be!

As it melts inside, i writhe in pleasure.
Shivers... as i lose myself in its warmth.
Filled,repaired,healed,consoled: the old fissure.
Sigh! I keep succumbing yet I am not harmed.

That dark entity calls out my amorous soul.
I pine for it as did Coleridge's demon lover.
Thwarted time and again by the lies of heedless world
But my insatiable heart refused to cower.

For the Aztecs you were only an experiment: mere beans.
Momtezuma in all his glory failed to recognize you.
You had to die; you were roasted, pounded and grounded: mere beings!
But you came back! not bitter but sweeter with the traumas due.

Oh! how i love thee! sweet, sweet Chocolate.
Midnight or twilight its never too late.
To have you...
Only you.

LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING SPREE!
I was utterly bored contemplating the prospect of spending a  lonely Christmas.
Then a friend with the similar crisis messaged me and all of a sudden we decided to go window shopping and treat ourselves to cheese cakes. And since its Christmas we pooled in all of our winter clothes and decided to dress warm even though the city of Calcutta, India doesnt offer such opportunity( it is always insanely warm throughout the year! and only mildly cold in winter)

Finally i took out my coat which i got from Promod, and also boots from Promod (yes, i love Promod) and the woollen hat from Accessories and the unseen blouse from Latin Quarters( it has a cute Peter Pan Collar which i absolutely love) and the pants  and bags from a market in Calcutta where we get all stuffs from Bangkok, Thailand. We went rambling around Forum Mall, sadly i have no pictures of my sister-in-loneliness.( I forgot my camera so had to take pics from my cellphone)
blue berry cheese cake from Biscotti
chicken tandoori from Alibaba
a sneak peek in  a ladies' room
my Peter Pan collared blouse

two cute penguins outside the mall which were absolutely adorable!
and finally a chocolate cake for the girls in my dormitory :) ( didnt ate though, i dont like chocolate uhuh)
In the end my faceless friend got herslef a purse and a cardigan, while i got a cake for my room-mates. It was indeed merry just before Christmas but after that.. well, if having a fantastic dream is legal for a Christmas night, then yes! i had a merry Christmas!

That wide infinity of blue, promising so much possiblities and fantasies...
aoi aoi ana sora(across that blue blye sky)
That ominous dark sky with jewels studded across with velvetty train of dreams...
Those constellations that boast of authorities over mortals fates...
And the lonely moon that encourages howls from every lonely wandering wolves...
tsukii tsukii (moon moon)
The sky, a gateaway of every Romantic hearts...
A dimension where dreams can be embraced...
A dreamer, like me, who loses herself it its manificience and untold mysteries.

I Take A Trip Into Fairy World Unprepared!...

I'm not much of a girls night outer but i was excited this time when we were going to the beach and then dinner at a restaurant in New Digha, West Bengal. And thrilled with the idea of braiding (which i recently fell in love with after watching some youtube videos ) my friends' hairs i decided to go Disney on them... I havent practiced yet and honestly they were my first trials and it came out pretty sweet and my girls totally loved it. I am already booked for doing one of my friends' hair for her date :)
princesses heads minus princesses gowns :)

I did the Snow White and The Huntsman hair braid of Kristen Stewart for my first friend and mermaid's braid for the other. It did'nt came out gorgeous but it was gorgeous enough for them. Next time i'm going to make sure they have gowns or dresses at least when they come begging for my hand. hehe. Then mentally they were princesses... We did'nt have any Princes or Knights at that to escort us (sob sob...) but we sure got our white horse (Taylor Swift should have hired a white horse instead of waiting for one...heheh).
So we found this guy at the beach and we got our ride with no fuss. We exchanged some papers for service and that was it.
the White horse with our chivalric footman
All fairytales have antagonist(s) in the plot well ours were annoying enemy subjects who tried their best to kidnap us hahaha... But hey whats a fairytale without a villain??? or villains????
And ohhhh what did i do with my hair??? I let it go wild with my natural curls... I'm born a princess..heheh.
Wild and royalty doesnt click but hey its 2012 after all.

My fantasy about Harry Potter and Hogwarts.

Forbidden Forrest:

!
my own version of Forbidden forrest.
The spell casted by J.K Rowling struck home literally home... wherever i go i liked to believe that im living in the Wizarding world... the charm has died down with the passage of time but it still lingers somewhere in the back of my mind ready to invade my life whenever i go home. My hometown Ukhrul (surprsingly its even in the wikipedia so make sure you check out) is where i grew up until my college years. I like to think it as somewhere in Scotland but its way sunnier but it also has its rough times. Its a hilly district so you can imagine the perpetual rain and yeah the bitter cold bites of the winter air... But i like it as it gives me that magic in the air which i find it whenever i immersed myself in the book.

The picture above is taken from Duncan park in Ukhrul in June,2011 because it somewhat felt like the Forbidden Forrest... i know its suppose to be dark and ominous but my imagination took care of it... just suppose that its Quidditch season and the clouds are passing over the forrest..hahaha. We might actually see Harry with his Firebolt or maybe Buckbeak... and ahem if you have witnessed a death or deaths you will find many thestrals flying with their skeletal wings.... See right there!

I've read the series i dont know how many times but it never bores me. Its been a year since i have not reread it but i'm hoping to do so this October when i go home for the Durga Puja and Deepawali holidays. Of course not to celebrate the festivals but any holiday is enough to celebrate it. Being a Christian i'm more looking forward to Christmas. And now the name "witch" gets my interest spike up to several degrees.I  have googled Salem Witch Trials, and look up to the dictionary for different forms of magic, its synonyms and antonym and any i mean any! sorts of magical themes... Recently i got hooked to The Secret Circle serial. Nothing like Harry Potter and i self-inflicted nightmares for two days. It was not scary but some scenes were just too much for my delicate heart. Harry Potter is the greatest book(s) so far and i love how it totally transports me to its world of magic.

P.S: shhhhh withcraft still prevails in my hometown though we have been converted to Christianity for a century.. There are still witch doctors and they sure know who is possessing who, how to jinx people and the art of necromancy(talk to death people's spirits, derive assistance from then...). but on a brighter note its subdued but it still persists till date. ohhhh and dont let me start with legends of werewolves and long-haired grandmothers yes all safely woven into the bedtime stories of naughty children.
